My Take on 4 Trendy Foods
Trying new foods is a favorite pastime of mine, so I thought I would try some trendy foods and see if they live up to the hype.
1. Pickled Veggies
Pickling is a big craze in restaurants these days, and I’m not just talking about dill pickles. I’m talking onions, mushrooms, brussels sprouts, peppers, asparagus, cabbage … and the list goes on! Pickled veggies are juicy, tangy and flavorful, which is probably why we’re starting to see them everywhere.
2. Elote, aka Mexican Street Corn
Golden nuggets? Delicious fresh cheese? Hmm … sounds familiar! Like me, Mexican Street Corn is a local delicacy that has spread to the masses. For those who haven’t heard of it: Corn on the cob is charred on the grill, brushed with a thick layer of garlic mayonnaise and then rolled in Cotija cheese and sprinkled with cilantro and chili powder. You’ll definitely want to add this one to your cheesy bucket list!
3. Raclette
Raclette comes from the French word that means “to scrape,” and it involves scraping melted cheese over your favorite sides and entrees. 10/10 would recommend. And the best part? Just about everything is raclette-able. Try it with burgers, fries, salads or your entire dinner plate.
4. Nostalgic Desserts
Restaurants are bringing old favorites back to their dessert menus, and I for one am here for it. Some examples are fun donut flavors, like maple-bacon and strawberry shortcake. These desserts inspired by baked goods will transport you back to a simpler time.
There are so many delicious options out there … what a time to be alive! What are some of your faves? Tell me what to try next by tagging @curdisthecurd on Instagram or Twitter.
